Curriculum Development

Collaboration between the writing center and basic writing: hired a writing tutor for basic writing and trained them to be a bridge between the writing center and the basic writing program at CWU.

Humanities Program: Direct, assess, and develop the program curriculum for the humanities program at CWU.

General Education Program: Assess, design, and develop the general education curriculum for the CWU English department.

Writing in the Sciences: Designed a writing in the sciences course and trained faculty to teach the course. Designed a training program for preparing to teach writing in the sciences.

Writing in the Social Sciences: Designed a writing in the social sciences course for the sociology department.

Basic Writing Stretch Program: Designed and implemented a stretch writing program for basic writing at Central Washington University. Designed a training program to prepare instructors to teach in the stretch program.

WAC Advising at UCF

Writing Across the Curriculum: Individual Consultations and Walk-ins. I am in charge of individual consultations or advising faculty who walk-in to the WAC office and need advice or assistance with using writing for teaching and learning.

WAC: I codirect the WAC Fellows program. I meet with cohorts of faculty from different department each semester for 16 weeks. We meet a total of seven times. I help teach faculty from across discipline how to implement writing as a learning tool.

WAC: Over the summer’s I provide WAC Workshops for our Faculty Center for Teaching and Learning. I deliver presentations and workshops on WAC related topics like feedback, assessment, writing-to-learn, and peer-review.

Dr. Dan Martin is an Associate Professor and Director of Composition and Writing in the Disciplines at Central Washington University where he teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in English and he studies feedback, digital rhetoric, multimodal writing, history of English studies and composition. Professor Martin is also interested in the ways in which digital rhetoric and misinformation connect and disconnect in digital writing environments.
